You've booked - it's happening! If this is your first every session, or you've updated your pictures every year - this post is for YOU!
Clothes matter. Please keep it simple - block neutral colours + less patterns - this is the foundation to selecting your wardrobe for you and your family.
Avoid mini-skirts & denim dungarees. I know they're adorable! But many of my poses are sitting, so the straps will always rise looking weird and the skirts are stiff and unflattering when sitting.
Little details. Trim and clean fingernails and remove any temporary tattoos or marker from skin.
Iron your clothes. Please pull the iron over the creases before coming in!
Keep calm. I have been capturing families portraits since 2008, and what I notice is when parents are calm and happy - so are the kids!
Avoid snacks. Full tummies before you arrive, please! The session only takes 15-20 minutes and I aim to get the best out of the children by moving quickly.
Sentimental props. There is no need to bring anything unless you want it in the portrait. If there is anything sentimental, please feel free to bring it and I can see if I can introduce it for a pose.
It's a treat! Keep a positive mindset when talking about the photoshoot with your children. By saying "as soon as we are done you can have ice-cream", it will plant a seed by the children thinking they are doing a job now and getting rewarded after. The session IS the reward - it is a lovely and fun thing to do!
You know your child best. If there is anything you wish to tell me before your session - please do. Every child is unique, so by getting to know what your child likes or dislikes, it'll help the session go more smoothly.
Ready, steady - go! The hard work is done! I'm looking forward to seeing you.
